The primary functions of this Department are interpretation, administration and enforcement of the zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations, floodplain ordinance, erosion, sediment and storm water management, tall structure ordinance and rural addressing. The zoning office is also responsible for review and issuance of building permits, plat approval and processing applications for variances, special use permits, text amendments and rezoning requests.
While this department does not provide legal advice, staff does provide opinion and direction to elected and appointed officials, as well as to citizens regarding all development in unincorporated Woodford County.
The Department works with the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Conservation, Planning and Zoning Committee and the County Comprehensive Plan to manage zoning, planning, subdividing, building, agriculture areas and floodplain development.
